Ashley Valley Wilderness

Education:

• I attended Utah Valley State College with an Academic Scholarship. My majors were Marketing and Business with special interest in wood working.

Professional Work Experience:

• I have worked with over 500 students now at the Ashley Valley Wilderness over many years. Prior to AVW I worked in a Wilderness Treatment Program. I also have extensive outdoor skills experience and scouting experience.

Interests:

Fishing, outdoor recreation, working with troubled youth and helping them find their true path.

Comments on AVW:

I feel I have the greatest job in the world because I get to see the students when they are first transported to AVW and then when they graduate. They often come in with rough edges and then by the time they graduate I am always amazed at how different they look and act. The changes youth undergo at AVW are so thorough and lasting. I am never discouraged when a teen shows up with a poor attitude because as I have seen countless times that attitude disappear and the real character of the youth come into full view. I also enjoy using my life experiences, which help me empathize, with the troubled youth. I enjoy reaching out to them and helping them overcome whatever problems they are struggling with. I've always been of a mind to work hard to gain each student's trust and respect. I value integrity and enjoy teach how this all ties together to create life success.
